Bay (Laurus Nobilis / Large Planter Gifts)

The Bay tree is an evergreen highly valued for its aromatic leaves used extensively in culinary dishes for seasoning.  Slow growing (10-20cm per year)  it can eventually reach heights of 5+ meters however can easily be trimmed every summer to be kept small for container gardening.

Camellia (Hiryu - Singles / Culinary / Body Care)   

Camellia 'Hiryu' produces good-sized, bright pink to deep rosy red flowers during mid March to early June. Slow growing, upright to spreading shrub or small tree with age. Oval, glossy leaves and profuse winter to spring blooming flowers in milder climates.

Cordyline (Chocolate Mint)

An evergreen tree with stunning green leaves with brown variagation.  80cm long leaves, Highly architectural.  Enjoys sun or smei shade and hardy. 

Grows to 4m (h) x 1m spread
Suitable for planting throughout NZ - Great in a container.

Cranberry  (Tazi Berry)

Cranberries are a group of evergreen dwarf shrubs and trailing vines.  The flowers are dark pink with a very distinctive petal.  Pollinated by bees, Cranberry fruit is often larger than the leaves on the plant itself. Initially the fruit is white but it will turn deep red with ripening.  Edible with an acidic taste.

Feijoa (Sellowiana)

The Feijoa is an evergreen shrub which originates from South America. It is both a useful landscape ornamental plant with its showy flowers against its grey/green foliage and provides fantastic fruit for eating.  Sellowiana is self fertile.

Gardenia (Professor Pucci)

Gardenia is one of the most popular varieties of evergreen shrubs.  Deep glossy green leaves and wonderful creamy white fragrant double flowers. The Gardenia prefers warmer climates and dislikes the cold and frost.

Kowhai (Dragon's Gold - Singles / Mixed Varieties Seasonally Planters)

Kowhai Dragon’s Gold is famous for its beautiful brilliant yellow racemes of nectar-rich flowers, which appear in early spring.  They are a favourite food for NZ native birds such as the Tui and Wood Pigeon. Kowhai is an evergreen variety producing greenish yellow leaves over a long period from winter until mid spring.

Lemon (Meyer)

The Meyer Lemon is one of the easiest and most reliable fruiting lemons for NZ gardens. The clean, dark green foliage forms a medium sized plant with waxy white fragrant flowers which appear in spring, summer and autumn.

Lime (Tahitian / Bearss)

Lime trees are vigorous trees with bold dark green leaves which are slightly serrated at the edges. The fruit are small to medium in size, with thin skin turning a pale yellow at maturity. The Lime's flesh is wonderfully juicy and is without seed. Fruit ripens in winter and is a fabulous addition to any garden. Tree Gifts NZ sends both Tahitian and Bearss Lime dependent on season.

Magnolia (Figo Port Wine and Little Gem seasonally)

Magnolias are evergreen and one of the first trees to lift the veil of winter, their fresh and vibrant flowers gracing bare branches in spring. Flowering early in the season, with their thick, waxy petals forming goblets on bare branches, a mature magnolia in full bloom is a breathtaking sight.  Other varieties such as Mixed Up Miss and Yunnanesis are often available in our large planter tree gift boxes throughout the year.

Mexican Orange Blossom  (Choiysa Ternata)

Over spring and into summer the evergreen Mexican Orange Blossom makes a beautiful show. It is a shrub from the temperate areas of Mexico with glossy dark green leaves and clusters of white flowers that have the fragrance of orange.

Olive (Olea & El Greco seasonally )

To be admired for its soft grey-green foliage, blending well with other colours in the garden. The attractive smooth grey trunks and branches take on a gnarled, twisted look when this tree reaches maturity. The Olive is not only grown for its beauty but also for its very distinctive culinary fruit and oil. Olive trees prefer full sun and do not tolerate cold winters or having "wet feet".

Mandarin (Clementine)

Mandarin  trees thrive in warmer weather and dislike frosts.  Along with the delicious and generous fruit that orange trees provide, their fragrant blooms are intoxicating.  Varieties change throughout the season.

Pohutukawa (Metrosiderous Mistral & Maori Princess)

Please note: Smaller Pohutukawa are currently unavailable due to the airborne disease "Myrtle Rust" however we do have some beautiful Pohutukawa in our Larger Planter gift range

The magnificent NZ native Pohutukawa is also fondly known to many as NZ's own Christmas Tree,  due to making a beautiful showing of red flowers in the December - January period.  With dark bold grey leaves and bright crimson flowers the Pohutukawa in full bloom is a sight to behold.

Suitable for coastal regions of NZ in the North Island or top of the South Island.

Tea Tree (Leptospermum Scoparium)  - NZ Native Manuka
Also known as the NZ Native Manuka.

Originating in New Zealand the Tea Tree is a compact shrub with an abundance of double pink or white flowers with tiny grey-green leaves. Growing quickly it enjoys partial to full sun in a range of soils from acid to neutral.

Rhododendron (Various - seasonal availability in Large Planters)

With spectacular clusters of bell shaped flowers in spring-time and evergreen leaves year round, Rhododendrons grow well in containers or under tree canopy in larger garden settings.

Trees may vary in size from those pictured on our website due to the growing nature of the trees within the seasons.  Rest assured, we will always select the very best tree for your gift from our nursery.

IMPORTANT: Courier delays are now occuring throughout the country.  Gifts may take an extra 2+ days in transit, this is outside of our control.  Please be patient with the couriers doing their best on our roads.

If you are intending on holding onto your Tree Gift until Christmas Day you will need to remove it from its box and provide water, light and air - remember this is a "living" gift - it cannot stay in its wooden box under the Christmas tree.  If you need advice on how to care for your tree gift please email.

Orders received outside of these times will be refunded unless the item is non perishable such as art or seed bombs. 

The Tree Gifts offices will be closed from 20 December 2019 to 27 January 2020. 

Standard Delivery Time Frames (Mon-Fri):

Orders received by 2:30pm (NZST) Monday to Friday are dispatched on the day of order (or at a later date depending on the delivery date you enter into your cart) and standard delivery time frames, apply thereafter (please see below). 

Please note that delivery time frames required by the courier will always over-ride the delivery date you may select in your cart.  For example, should you select next day delivery but the delivery time frame required is a 2-3 day delivery service (as per the table below) this will be the quickest we can have your gift arrive at its destination.  If you are in any doubt or your gift is super urgent please call 0800 87 33 44 or email us out of office hours for further information.
 

Approximate Time Frames for Delivery:

Same Day	Often available within Wellington CBD / Lower & Upper Hutt CBD if ordered prior to 8:30am. (ex Rural). Please place a note at cart if you are wanting us to see if Same Day Delivery is available for your order as this needs to be requested early in the morning and does not happen automatically. Same day delivery is unavailable 1 Dec - 24 Dec
North Island	1-2 working days after the date of dispatch, location dependent. Typically overnight to most main centres ie: Auckland / Hamilton / Whanganui etc (ex Rural).
South Island	2 - 3* working days after the date of dispatch - please allow 3 days in Autumn and Winter and Christmas period due to the weather conditions and peak season.  This also applies to any order to the West Coast region.  Orders to Invercargill / Gore please allow 4 working days (ex Rural)
Rural Delivery*	Normal delivery time frames above + 2 working days for the rural courier to deliver to the property after arrival in the main centre.  Includes all rural areas nationwide including R.D addresses and Waiheke Island.  Tree Gifts does not deliver to Great Barrier Island - please see further information below on rural delivery*.
